His Vision. In His Words.
When I initially began brainstorming what I wanted this company to represent, I knew I wanted raw, unfiltered authenticity to be at the frontline of every venture. The definition of a professional is an individual who has perfected a skillset, nothing more. Professionalism as discussed in corporate America is a false perception of how people should operate. They’ve trained you to be their bitch and do their bidding on their terms. And to that I say FUCK YOU.
Throughout every phase of my life, I have always despised fake. I cannot tolerate fake conversations. I cannot tolerate fake people. I cannot tolerate that in present society it’s acceptable, commendable even, to maintain an inauthentic exterior, especially in corporate America. Under the guise of “professionalism” we have adopted false characters and manipulated versions of ourselves to be more palatable to those who are the most overdue for a reality check. We are trained to dilute our opinions, alter our disposition, and even filter our speech to avoid offending others. Fuck that.
Over the course of my career, I have sat in countless meetings observing corporate executives with extensive formal education. They stand confident in their conference rooms, reciting slide decks on Power Point presentations only to return to their offices never having developed a thorough understanding of the ground-level operations that occur within the corporation they are supposedly operating. It didn’t take me very long to conclude, “These people have no fucking idea what’s going on.”
I distinctly remember attending one of my annual performance reviews. Adjacent from me, the Master of Microsoft Applications in all his glory. His wrinkly, untucked button-down accompanied by faint, yellow mustard stains and a gut that told me he was first in line for the donuts in the breakroom every Friday. I could see his slippers from the gap under his desk as he lectured me on my lack of professionalism in the workplace. I needed to curse less; my approach was too direct. Despite maintaining a commendable job performance, I was slapped on the wrist for failure to curate a corporate façade.
There’s no reason why a corporation can’t run at optimal efficiency while still allowing people to be themselves. I created this company because I was absolutely fucking sick of the bullshit that is corporate America. I know for a fact that I’m not the only person in the workforce who thinks the same. I don’t give a fuck about how you joke, what your political views are, or if you cuss in the Teams meeting if the job gets done. Fuck You Inc. is exactly what it sounds like and if you don’t like it, well… You can read it again.
